Chapman Valley Manor Adds New Residential Healthcare Option with Shamrock Suites

Chapman Valley Manor is expanding its continuum of care with the opening of Shamrock Suites, a new Residential Healthcare Facility designed for seniors who can still live with a degree of independence but need additional day-to-day support.

The new service fills what Chapman Valley Manor identified as a missing middle between its existing independent senior living and nursing home care.

Shamrock Suites includes seven remodeled resident rooms. Residents will furnish and personalize their own spaces, while Chapman Valley Manor provides an armoire in each room.

“Chapman Valley Manor already offers Independent Senior Living and Nursing Home Care,” said Amanda Jeardoe, Administrator. “We were missing that middle piece to be able to provide that continuum of care to our senior population.”

Shamrock Suites is intended for residents who are able to complete many activities of daily living on their own but may benefit from assistance with things such as medications, meals, housekeeping, personal care and supervision.

Amanda said the goal is to provide that support in an environment that still feels residential.

“The environment is intended to feel more residential, more like living in your own home with assistance available,” she said.

The new Residential Healthcare Facility includes seven rooms with capacity for up to nine residents. Two of the rooms are large enough to accommodate double occupancy, providing an option for situations such as spouses or other residents who may wish to live together.

The wing was previously used as office space and has been remodeled for residential use. Updates include private bathrooms with zero-entry showers, new carpet and paint, and individual heating and air-conditioning units in each room.

Each Shamrock Suites room includes a private bathroom with a zero-entry shower as part of the remodeled residential space.

Residents will furnish their own rooms, allowing them to personalize the space and make it feel like home. Chapman Valley Manor provides an armoire in each room.

Shamrock Suites will also include shared spaces for residents, including a common room, areas for meals, games and gathering, laundry facilities and access to an outdoor courtyard. Residents who prefer to do their own laundry will be able to do so, while assistance will also be available.

Amanda said the need for this type of care was already apparent in Chapman and the surrounding area.

“We recognized a need for additional care options for seniors in Chapman and the surrounding community,” she said.

During a recent tour of the space, Amanda described the impact more simply: “It’s allowing people to age within their community.”

That local option matters because seniors whose needs change may otherwise have to leave Chapman to find a level of care between independent living and nursing home care.

“It means more seniors will be able to stay local,” Amanda said.

Chapman Valley Manor has been working on the project for approximately six months. Shamrock Suites received approval from the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services and the Fire Marshal to open effective Sept. 1, 2026.

Residents are already committed to moving into Shamrock Suites beginning Sept. 15, and Chapman Valley Manor has a waiting list to draw from if openings become available.

“A successful launch would be seeing residents make Shamrock Suites their home and knowing we are providing them with the right level of support while helping them maintain their independence,” Amanda said.

Community invited to Sept. 13 open house

A former office wing at Chapman Valley Manor has been remodeled into Shamrock Suites, creating a new residential healthcare option for seniors who need support while maintaining independence.

Chapman Valley Manor will celebrate the addition of Shamrock Suites with an open house and ribbon cutting on Sunday, Sept. 13, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The ribbon cutting will take place at noon.

Throughout the open house, guests will be able to tour the remodeled wing at their own pace and enjoy refreshments. At least one room is expected to be furnished for the event so visitors can better envision how residents may make the space their own.

“We are most proud to be able to offer another option for seniors to remain right here in their community,” Amanda said. “We’re excited to see Shamrock Suites become a place residents are proud to call home.”

For Chapman Valley Manor, the addition is part of a broader commitment to continue adapting as local needs change.

“The addition of Shamrock Suites allows us to offer another level of care and gives seniors more options to remain close to their families, friends, and the community they know and love,” Amanda said.
